Pastor Squire J. Newsome, III, was born to the late Squire J. Newsome Jr., and Geraldine T. Newsome of Trenton, New Jersey. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in July 1989, and was baptized at Union Baptist Church in Trenton, New Jersey. In November 1991, Reverend Newsome was licensed to preach by Dr. Robert M. Dickerson and the Union Baptist Church. In December 1994, Reverend Newsome joined the Greater Beulah Baptist Church in Washington, DC under the leadership of Pastor Jeffrey Jackson. After Pastor Jackson’s departure to begin ministry in Oregon, the Greater Beulah Baptist Church extended the pastoral call to Reverend Newsome. In July 1995, Reverend Newsome was ordained and in October of that same year, was installed as the Pastor of Greater Beulah Baptist Church.

Through Pastor Newsome’s leadership, the teaching, and training, ministries have grown tremendously which has impacted the growth of the church. As a result of the church’s growth, God inspired Pastor Newsome to take the ministry to the Seat Pleasant and Capitol Heights community. Many new ministries have been birthed under Pastor Newsome’s leadership.

Two ministerial staff positions have been established while others have been licensed to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Additionally, under the leadership of Pastor Newsome a non-profit corporation, The Greater Beulah Community Development Center Inc., was created to help meet the social needs of the community. The Greater Beulah Community Development Center Inc. is a 501(c) (3) corporation organized to meet the social needs of the community and surrounding areas through the emphasis of education, empowerment, and enrichment for the disadvantaged.
