Outside of the few rise and shine types, most of us don't consider early mornings our favorite part of the day. And to make it worse, if you stayed up late the night before working, worrying or just wondering about stuff then the mornings may not be your favorite time of the day. However, many leading social psychologists surmise that if a person starts their morning right then they can reduce their stress and anxiety while increasing their chances to have a productive day. Somehow or another the morning routine influences the rest of the day.
If we can have a positive effect on our days by starting the first part of the day off right then its quite possible that the same could be done surrounding our year. If we start the year off right it's likely that we can have a positive effect on the rest of our year! In fact, the writer of Proverbs is telling his son that if you want to impact the rest of your year then start your year off right by honoring God with a special portion of your resources. And as we look at these few words of wisdom from a father to his son, we find that there are results associated with meeting the request of bringing God the first fruit of your harvest.
