Good Evening
I pray all is well with you and your families.
I think the scripture and sermonic idea for Sunday, November 12th are Genesis 46: 1-7, "Handling Change."
One of the greatest challenges in life is handling change. When we as people are faced with change, very often our initial response is to resist. Resistance toward change is as predictable as change. In other words, change is inevitable. It is as much a part of life as life itself. Yet most responses to change are predictable. Most of us generally resist, refuse, and refrain from change. Because change has a way of taking us into the unknown. Relationships change, families go through changes, friendships can change over time. Change is a reality that many of us don't like.
Here in our text, we find that Joseph's father Jacob is about to experience one of the greatest moments of transition and change in a person's life, moving. Jacob has to move his entire family from Canaan to Egypt. The famine the region experienced necessitated that Jacob does something different. And in the midst of this transition, we are able to garner a few principles to help us deal with the changes in our own lives. When we are faced with change we must remember to connect with God, embrace our covenant with God, and commit everything to God.
