“Prepare for the Journey”

October 6, 2019 ()

Bible Text: 1 Kings 19: 1-8 |

Anytime you are taking a trip or a journey to a distant destination it is always best to be prepared for the trip. There is no telling what circumstances or challenges may arise so it's better to make sure that you've made necessary preparations. For instance, how long will the trip take, what means of transportation will be used, what kind of clothing is needed for the trip? All of these logistical considerations and more need to be thought about when taking a journey.

However, there are also some intangibles that come along with going on a journey. In our text, Elijah is running from King Ahab and his wife Jezebel. Elijah has taken this journey and it's evident that there were some essentials necessary for the road. We see from Elijah's experience that clarification, communication, and confirmation are necessary on his journey, and ours. So as we journey through life make sure we are paying attention and partnering with God.
