In the next few days, people all over the U.S will prepare for Thanksgiving Day. And in the great tradition of most families, dinner tables will be filled with family favorites, everything from turkey and all the trimmings to side dishes and desserts. One of the interesting things about Thanksgiving Day is that it's estimated that at least 18 hours of preparation is needed to prepare the meal that takes about 20 minutes to eat. There is a lot that goes into Thanksgiving Day.
And just as there are reasons why so much preparation for the Thanksgiving meal is needed, there are also reasons why we as a people should be thankful.
In our text, we find the laws, decrees, and commands that the Lord shared with Moses and the Children of Israel after giving them the Ten Commandments. In other words, the decrees that are shared with the people help them live out their covenantal relationship with God. Here, God shares with the people that they should not forget God's Preparation, God's Preservation, and God's Transformation. When we remember how God has done the above in our lives, we definitely have reasons to be thankful.
