We are all aware that parenting is one of the most challenging responsibilities a person could ever experience. There is something intense about being a mother or father. And no doubt about it, mothers and fathers should be celebrated for accepting such responsibility.
However, we all know that mothers and fathers very often are not celebrated the same. Father's Day is here and National Retail Federation predicted that a whopping $16 billion will be spent on Father's Day. While this may seem like a ton of money, it pales in comparison to the $25 billion that was spent during Mother's Day. However, just because more money is spent one day over the other does not mean that one type of parent is more important than other. Fathers are just as important as mothers.
So then, what is the duty of a father? I want us to take a look at what Jesus says about His Heavenly Father (God) so we may get an idea of the duty of a father. Jesus has this conversation that is very revealing about the duty of a dad. We see from His explanation that His Father is working, a worthy example, and willingly patient. So all earthly fathers can take a lesson from our Heavenly Father about the duty of being a dad.
