“Getting Things Done”

Bible Text: Acts 13: 1-12 |

Why is it so hard to get things done? I'm not sure if it's just me, but have you ever wondered why it seems so difficult to get things accomplished? I'm not referring to the daily routines or simple things like eating, going to work if you're working, or watching your favorite tv show or movie.  I'm talking about those things that may require more effort, more industry, more intention. Why does it sometimes seem like it's so hard to get things done that would make major impact on your life or the lives of others?  Why does it seem like those goals, those things that you've been thinking about for a long time are so elusive?! There is always something getting in the way!
Some wise person said, "Don't let life change your goals, achieve your goals, and change your life!" In other words, realize it is hard trying to achieve all your mind says it wants to get done but we can't let life dictate who we become when God has a destiny designed for us. According to the University of Scranton, only about 8 percent of people achieve their goals set at the beginning of the year.  According to numerous motivational speakers, only 20 percent of the population set goals, and then about 70 don't achieve those goals because so much other stuff gets in the way!  so how do we get things done?
In the 13th chapter of Acts, we find the church in Antioch making its mark on the world.  And it is in their efforts that we find some principles that you and I can take with us to get things done in our own lives.  We find from this diverse group of leaders that it takes commitment, courage, and confidence to make sure you get things done in your life.
